Guest Post by Pincushion Creations

Hi!  I am Katie and I blog over at Pincushion Creations and I am so excited to be here!   I  am a mother of a little chubby one year old boy and wife to a wonderful husband!  I love to sew, scrapbook, use modge podge...anything crafty! ,  It's my outlet from a crazy, busy, totally in love!!
I am somewhat new to this blogging world...only a few months old, but I have been loving every minute of it!  I have met so many amazingly talented sweet women!  At my blog you can find sewing tutorials, diy crafts, recipes and much more.  I hope you will swing by!
I also host a fun {Homemade By You} link party EVERY WEDNESDAY!
I decided to share one of my "Most Viewed" Tutorials:
No Slip Kitchen Towel

This yellow remindes me of all the pretty yellow daffodils that are popping up everywhere!
Sewing Machine
New or gently used kitchen towel
Small pieces of Velcro
Cut out two matching pieces in the shape that you would like the top of your towel to be.  ( Make sure the very top is long enough to fold over your oven handle)
OPTIONAL STEP: Cut two contrasting band strips.  Make sure they are a little bit longer than your actual top part. ( You will trim later)
Place your contrasting band and top piece wrong sides together and sew. Trim your edges.
Top stitch
Place your two pieces wrong sides together and sew.
Press with a hot iron a 1/2 in. hem around the bottom of your towel piece. (Do this BEFORE you turn it right side out)
Turn right side out
Before you sew your towel into your "holder" part, you may want to cut off a few inches so the towel is not so long.  BASTE STITCH across the top and pull on your bobbin thread ( the bottom thread) to gather your towel.  More on gathering HERE
Insert your towel into your "handle" piece, pin in place and sew.
Glue or sew on your pieces of velco.  (You may want to put it on your oven handle and mark with a pencil/pen of where your velcro needs to go before you glue it on.)
Embellish to your hearts content.  I added some rolled fabric can find my tutorial HERE
Here are some more of my followers favorites!
