Bye bye Summer! (with great outdoor spaces)

Well, I did not want to admit it that summer is over - even now that I have to put a sweater on - but I am afraid I have to. Yes, summer is over. Fall is on its way. I can see it on my plants (yellow leaves all over on the balcony), I can feel it in the air, I can even smell it. It's not that I don't like fall. I do, I really do. But still I will miss summertime, swimming, sunbathing, relaxing, late wakenings, ice creams.... and all those posts dedicated to decorating balconies, porches, front/backyards, gardens etc. So, let's say goodbye to summer by hanging outside a little bit... shall we?

Searching through the internet - only for you guys - I came across this beatiful house that its owner has decorated so unique and so feminine. Her living room that we will be viewing today involves gray, pink, lilac and beige.
But for living areas like these, words are not enough... see it for yourselves and enjoy!

My Dining Room

COMMENTS
Today I am linking up with Involving color and I am sharing my Dining Room in honour of the Roomspiration blog hop & Link Party.

Roomspiration

So this is my dining room - more like a dining space I should say! Here in Greece when you live in an appartment in the center of the city you have to squeeze everything in just a few square metres. Most of the times there is not even such space for a dining table and you have to do with the one in the kitchen only.
Luckily, we have a space for our dining table but that's pretty it. Not any extra furniture such as sideboards, as then the room would be stuffed! And I don't like walking throught furniture and bamping on them every time. As for the table this is made glass and inox, and the chairs are plexiglass. I prefer the straight lines and sleek look for this kind of space.

Let's take a closer look at the wall, shall we? In  case you are wondering if this is brick or stone I have to admit that it's none of the above. It is a wallpaper and the little shining spots is gold glitter! Isn't it fabulous?
I fell in love with it the minute I saw it!:

And this is the other side of the dining room. This tall kind of closet is from IKEA and we use it for hanging our coats, bags etc. (told you... we have to squeeze everything in!):

(this old radio was given to me by my father and it is very old! late 40's!)

So, I think it is worth paying a visit to the Roomspiration Link Party (you just have to press the button in the beginning of the page) to see what others have to share.

Outdoor Glowing Bulbs

A fantastic idea for outdoors lighting! Very cheap and easy to do, as recommemded by Karren from theartofdoingstuff.com.  I will sure try it in my own balcony for a more ambient atmosphere.
You all know these white bulbs that were used to be in old houses' bathrooms.

Just fill in the bulbs with the mini lights and stuff them wherever you want. Use an extension cord if necessary.
 So simple! And awesome!!!!

My balcony

We have a very big balcony in our house and we really love spending time there. In fact we use this extra 30sqm as an extension to our living room. Even in winter we use to sit outside since the really cold days here in Greece are counted in one's hand fingures nowadays.
For the past two years that we bought our house it used to look like this:

This is the right side of the balcony
(please excuse the "styling" of the table, as my hubby was sitting, reading newspaper and drinking coffee)

and this is the left side

So, as you can see in the first picture the kids have their own corner with the little house to play "family" and the little table with the chairs so that they can make their drawings or play with their "playdohs".
My hubby also has his corner where he spread his newspapers or relax and watch TV.
And me? Nothing for me.
So I decided that it was high time to do something about it. And that wall next to the TV was very suitable.
I did not want to spend much money on this project, so I searched for old forgotten things in my basement, such as lamps, window-mirror and rugs. My blogging friend Eva from Rdeco also helped me out with some tips, ideas, and a board for me, which you can find here.
You want to see the outcome? Here it is:

After:

This was a quick transformation, as we didn't have much time before we leave for our summer holidays.
Then, when we returned I made a few changes for a more summery look:

A few little changes for better results, as well as different plants next the mirror as previous ones died during our absence in Pilio.

Let's take a closer look of this window-mirror which has been stored in my basement for several years.
Notice that in the first pictures it has dark brown colour that I wasn't fond of.
So, I sanded the piece then primed it and then applied two coats of an off white paint and some yellow-lime paint on the windows. Ah, much better now!

Hope you have enjoyed!
